Do you shake your head from side to side and say you are brainstorming? Haha… that’s not what I mean but if it works for you fine!!!
Today’s business world is fast paced, if you do not find creative ways to reinvent your offerings, the product or services that you offer to your clients, you will find it difficult to catch up with the rest of the world.
How do you know when to change your offerings, adding something new to what you are already doing right or changing the characters of your offerings completely.
One way is to follow trends in the industry you find yourself. Another way, the best way actually is to be proactive and be the trend setter. Even though it can be risky, it sure does give you a place ahead of the competition, so that before they can catch up, you are unto something new.
Set the pace!!!
And the guy that would do this job effectively is BRAINSTORMING.
What is brainstorming, it is the combination of relaxed, informal approach to problem solving with lateral thinking.
It encourages people to think outside the box, coming up with ideas that might at first seem crazy but when fine-tuned can be the break through the industry has been waiting for.
Some of these ideas can be crafted into original, creative solutions to a problem while others spark even new ideas.
Every successful business has brainstorming sessions, which they hold from time to time, you too can do the same.
They set up a team and call them fancy names like THINK TANK, BRAINBOX, PRO-ACTORS, you can choose a name for your team.
You can either put together a team of your smartest heads or the dullest ones, then charge them with the very difficult task of coming up with new ways of doing your old business.
When it comes to idea generation, do not look down on anyone and do not think that it is your duty alone as a business owner to forever come up with ideas.
You can sometimes ask your low level staff like drivers and gatemen for their opinion on certain offerings, you will be surprised with their come backs.
You can set aside a certain time to brainstorm, pick a few people in your team, hit them with a problem, ask how that problem can be solved, if nothing is happening at the time, tell them you will convey same time tomorrow, encourage them to come up with the craziest ideas that you are open to them all, statistics show that brainstorming sessions are usually very productive as staff are in log ahead as to who comes up with the most brilliant idea and you on the other hand will be surprised as well as excited with the outcome.
Finally, sometimes the ideas can come in fragments, do not worry, write them down still because no idea is stupid, gather all the ideas contributed pick the once you can use and trash the rest, or combine 1,2 or even 3 and make them a whole, then move fast to implement.
Remember, nothing says ready like an ideas whose time has come.
